It's Going to be a Colorful Fall

 As predicted, Tangerine Tango has proven to be a very popular color this year, and I think it has legs.  While we wait for the color of the year 2013, Pantone has provided designers with a trend forecast for this fall, as published last year.  We are seeing it take shape, and these more bright than muted colors happily coexist with almost anything!

If enveloping yourself in one of these colors seems like too much of a commitment, like anything else, a little goes a long way.  Know thyself; there's something for everyone.  Add touches of these saturated colors for an instant update.  Take a cue from these pictures and mix these colors together.  They're wonderfully complementary ~

Tantalizing Tangerine Tango

The 2012 Color of the Year is  ~

Honeysuckle is out and Tangerine Tango is IN.  The experts at Pantone have chosen this vivacious reddish orange to continue the trend towards upbeat, energetic colors that recharge.

"Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy", explains Leatrice Eiseman of Pantone.

Living with an energetic color may require some getting used to for some, but others feel perfectly at home enveloped in it.  As with everything, if you're just dipping your toes in the orange waters, go slowly...baby steps.  Start with accessories; a knick knack here or there;

If your comfortable with that, you can drive right in.  If a bold statement is your goal, tangerine's sultry, spicy color is a hit.  This hue happens to be flattering to skin as well, so you'll look like you have a dewy glow.  Now, if it could only take 10 pounds off!

Lighten Up (for Spring)

I know it's not even winter yet but with fashion week in New York and Paris behind us, the wise color forecasters at Pantone have dictated which spring 2012 colors we'll be seeing.  Many are based on what we've seen on the runways, since home, fashion, and interior design are so closely related.  This is an example of what rooms may be wearing, because, "Consumers look to spring for renewed energy, optimism, and the promise of a brighter day," said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director for the Pantone Insitute.  I'll look forward to it ~ after I get thru this winter!

Brighter or subdued, these vivacious, enticing colors with just the right amount of neutral need not summarize a season. They are timeless.  Is it coincidental that these colors work beautifully together as well?

Pantone's Fashion and Home division also came up with 175 NEW (nuanced) colors.  They have a library of over 2,100 colors. "Who knew there were so many colors to choose from?"

Confused?  Need inspiration or ideas for color combinations??  There's an app for that!
