Retro Glam Interiors

When carefully put together retro inspired design can be glamorous and beautiful.  Very different to a granny outcome.  Enjoy!  Enjoy your weekend!

Food for Thought or Love

"I THOUGHT THAT MANY THINGS WERE PERMITTED TO YOU...BECAUSE YOU WERE NOWHERE A STRANGER, NOWHERE COULD YOU BE ONE, BEING NOWHERE DEPRIVED OF A CONNECTION WITH THINGS, WITH LIFE, NOWHERE SEPARATED FROM BEING, WHICH IS THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL." Ramuz

 Have a romantic weekend!

Communal Table

With this deliciously beautiful weather finally here, I can't think of a better way to spend time with  family and friends than enjoying a long meal between laughter and great conversation in a communal table;  Especially if you happen to have a view like the top image or inviting and welcoming settings like in the rest of these images.  Whichever environment you find yourself to be in, enjoy and love what you have.

Mix and Match dining chairs

I haven't found the perfect chairs for my dining room yet so I'm contemplating the idea of just going with the flow and buy the chairs I love even if they come in pairs or single. It's a no-brainer and affordable way to do it and it's also a younger approach so the little ones will relate very well to the idea. More traditional people are afraid of going with this more casual look but a safer and more balanced way of doing it is by using chairs of the same color or using the same fabric for upholstery. In the top image the fact that the chairs share the same color, make this room more elegant.

In this case all chairs are the same but the contrast of the wood, leather and metal, somehow give the same feeling as a mix and match dinging room.

This image above reminds me of Sarah Jessica Parker's dining room but in a more modern way. All chairs are of the same wood.

And this last image is simply fun and girly.

Detailing and contrasting

I've said before how much I enjoy semi-customization because they can complete the whole look I'm looking for. Such actions as adding a decorative trimming to your curtains, rosettes or moldings on to existing bookshelves can make a big difference in our home decor. This space designed by Maria de la Oso is so relaxing and aristocratic at the same time, thanks to simple but decisive details.

Exquisite

After being far away from home for the past week (somewhere in Europe) I surprise myself at the idea of sometimes doing nothing is all I need. I'll be posting a little bit about my trip in the nearest future.

Women Portraits

I remember when I saw Sofia Coppola's home (above) at House and Garden. I can't believe one of my favorite magazines is not around anymore. Anyhow, I still dream about this room. The sculptural table, the zebra rug, the vintage chair and of course the Elizabeth Peyton painting call my name, I mean isn't this room timeless? Don't you still love it? women portraits can certainly bring that vintage touch into a room.
