Convex Mirror: Federalist Convex Mirror

Probably the mirror used by the witch in Snow White was a convex mirror since it's a mirror with a power of optical illusion in it.  It disturbs the images that reflect making it feel like its inside the mirror, hence making everything in front appear bigger.  I would love one as big as possible for our new house in Sao Paulo, particularly a Federalist or Eagle one.

Fresh and Young

I can't help but get inspired and perhaps a little jealous every time I see gracious entrances like these two pictures here. My entrance consists of merely a staircase and a 4ft by 6ft of landing space that I have assigned as my tiny cute foyer. I better be creative.

Please let me know the sources of these images, I'd like to credit them. Thank you

Graffiti on your walls?

I believe that when there are children in the house the approach to decorate a house is based on safety more than anything else. Things like rounded corners instead of pointed ones, easy access to toys and keeping lower kitchen cabinets locked among other things are to be considered. But i also think there is a fun part that should be included when decorating a home with kiddos. Especially because personalized and unique homes could lead to creativity and individuality in your child. Things like stencils, geometric wallpapers or just a chalk wall would be a great way to inject that fun part in a home. I love all these images below and one thing I know for sure with a cool house like one of these below your kid will be the coolest kid in the block.

I've been taking a class on Decorative Arts after 1800's and I have to say that even when I'm not a big fan of Cubist influenced paintings I've being strongly influenced by Stijl's style and its ideas of universal unification that makes me seriously think about doing something crazy with my foyer walls based on this particular style. Perhaps it would not be only horizontal and vertical lines, but would be a little bit more curvy here and there in a more monochromatic scheme.

A Charming Farmhouse

Good morning, I hope you had a great weekend; mine was a very busy one. There are so many unfinished projects around our house that I think being busy over the weekends is going to be the norm for a while. I recently added this picture to my files because images like this farmhouse entrance in Walton, N.Y. of the painter Sean Scherer, is the reason why every now and then I wish I had a farmhouse- no animals included of course, where I can go and escape from the hustle and bustle of the City. To see more country living inspired images of this home go here. The rest of the house is even more beautiful.

Living with hats

Ahh... I remember the days when old gentlemen used to wear hats and sit in the local park smoking cigars. Well as you can see I'm from the tropics. Hats, this is how they use them now.

Gracious Entrance-partie deux

"Luck is the residue of design". Branch Rickey

Some entrances can tell a lot of their occupants. For instance; their age, their likes and their hobbies. Have a wonderful, lucky weekend!!

Gracious entrance

The foyer is perhaps the most important part of the house when it comes to decorating. Our guests will have a good or bad 'first impression' of our style based on our foyer. Below are a few inspirations. Either your space is a hallway, a room or a single wall, I hope these images give you ideas on how to display a gracious entrance to welcome your guests.
